Agree with all your comments Chris. I feel that it is not a coincidence that this success began at the same time we acquired two valuable assets in the North West region. They were Paul Nuttall as MEP and Fred McGlade as Regional Organiser. Both have driven the rejuvenation of the Region and the results speak for themselves: i.e. an increasing membership, more candidates and better results. The commitment and quality of candidates and activists is clear to see...the future looks rosy!

Nigel does an excellent job in Europe and is certainly gathering steam from Eurosceptics in other member states, but none of the UKIP leadership have been able to sell the economic benefit of leaving the EU to the wider UK public. We throw out big numbers but never back them up with detail and the three main parties just continue to make a meal of this. When we do get air time, we speak about windmills or other topics that might grab minority attention at best. I just think Tim Congdon may be our last chance at winning the economic argument before it is too late. He also comes without the usual UKIP baggage - meaning that he hasn't been a part of the in-fighting that spills out into the media daily.

No doubt they are all good candidates and some may be better speakers than others but I think Tim Congdon may be our last chance at being taken seriously.
